Exploring Variability in Language Anxiety: Two Groups of Prc Students Learning Esl in SingaporeNational Institute of Education/Nanyang Technological University, Singapore This is an exploratory study of ESL students' general language learning anxiety in a study-abroad context. Results of the present study suggest that variability in ESL students' language anxiety can also be attributable to students' differences in age, learning and epistemological experiences and other socio-economic factors. It is suggested that these differences might be equally viable in accounting for this psychological construct in the process of helping ESL learners out of their learning difficulties.
